The Commission on Higher Education has given authorization to STI Education Services Group (ESG), STI West Negros University (WNU), and iAcademy to provide courses and programs that concentrate on data science and market analytics.
STI Education Systems Holdings, Inc. submitted reports to the exchange on Wednesday stating that STI ESG and STI WNU have recently started providing programs for a Bachelor in Science degree in Retail Technology and Consumer Science, as well as an Associate degree in Retail Technology for the academic year 2020-2021.
Meanwhile, a Bachelor of Science in Information Science degree has new specialized tracks for students who would like to seek a specialization in either Data Science or Cloud Computing.
In the past, we have also witnessed a spike in new data scientist employment and careers being generated in the future. The phenomena emerging before our eyes now is still underway, and will accelerate in the years ahead. As STI Holdings Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco states, we want our youth to be properly trained and ready to face the obstacles posed by this trend, as this will assist them in moving ahead in the game.
STI Holdings President and CEO Monico V. Jacob has recently clarified that these latest trends help the company’s decision to deliver the new courses.
Recently, the Bangko Sentral came out with data showing that e-wallet purchases have risen by a substantial amount due to the COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting a significant rise in the usage of technology. The aforementioned news just cements STI Holdings’ determination to provide these new courses, showing that we have no plans of sitting back and doing little to advance the usage of data science in our country,” Jacob said.
STI ESG is partnering with Smart Communications, Inc. and Globe Telecom, Inc. to provide the students with the requisite online learning opportunities.
Students can learn how to evaluate customer and business behaviour by engaging in a STI class. Students participating in the Retail Technology and Consumer Science curriculum will study retail strategy, consumer psychology, computer technology, and computer science in order to train them for careers in industry and consumer research, digital marketing, and e-commerce specialists.
The Data Science curriculum at iAcademy offers instruction for students who are going to use data-driven methods, which includes heavy use of analytics, data analysis, and machine learning. The cloud computing track meanwhile is delivered in partnership with Amazon Web Services, where students can learn to develop and manage local and large cloud networks as well as create and run cloud computing infrastructures. Programs such as these might result in long-term careers in computer technology, data analytics, and program management.
